From: Davenport, Richard It is with sadness that I share with you that Professor Emerita Joanne Ardolf-Decker passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Dr. Ardolf-Decker taught in the Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Department from 1977 until her retirement in June 1997. Her primary field was Therapeutic Recreation. Her book, Making the Moments Count: Leisure Activities for Caregiving Relationships, was published in 1997. Joanne was an artist, but following her diagnosis with ALS, she discontinued drawing. However, she learned to use a computer paint program and later wrote, “These days, I lose track of time often while I create colorful images on my computer screen and give new color to earlier black and white drawings. Someone once told me: when we lose track of time, we experience heaven here on earth, since eternity is timeless. I am, oh, so grateful for my heaven on earth!” A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A copy of her obituary is at http://mankatofreepress.com/obituaries/x1118842270/Joanne-Ardolf-Decker On behalf of the entire University, I extend sympathy to Professor Ardolf-Decker’s family, her friends, and colleagues. She was a valued member of our community. Richard Davenport
