| News from Joanne |
Thursday, January 8th, 2009 Happy January! For the past several weeks I have been pleased to stay inside. Every day brings bitter cold, and I am content to look out and see the winter beauty. Christmas brought most of the family to our house to celebrate. It was good to have all the godchildren together. Oh how they’ve grown! Their moms, my nieces Janice and Sandy, were motivated to walk outside in spite of cold. Of course we played games, had plenty to eat and enjoyed each other’s company. Both Jim and I are grateful to have such a loyal family. The family stayed to celebrate our 34th anniversary. You can imagine how grateful we are to still have each other and enjoy another anniversary. Janice baked a gluten-free cake for us, complete with candles. We are now living month number 77 since diagnosis! I am happy to keep counting the months upward. However, I continue to grow a bit weaker with each month, but with my darling Jim and my precious caregivers, we manage pretty well. Thank you, everyone, for your many cards, calls, gifts and visits over the holidays. Without all of you, we wouldn’t be doing as well as we are. We wish you a healthy and safe new year! Stay warm! Love, Joanne--and Jim too. |
